Salu Mesa LLC (“Salu Mesa,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates salumesa.com (the “Site”). This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
If you have questions, email hello@salumesa.com.
1. Information We Collect
Information you give us directly
When you submit an inquiry through the Site, we collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your preferred event date
- Your party size
- Your preferred setting and course selection
- Any additional notes you choose to include, which may include dietary restrictions, allergies, or details about the occasion
If you contact us by email, text, or social media, we collect whatever information you choose to share in that message.
If you book an event with us, we may additionally collect a mailing or event address, a phone number, and billing information necessary to process a deposit or payment.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, certain information is collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies:
- IP address and general location (city or region level)
- Browser type, device type, and operating system
- Pages viewed, time spent, and how you arrived at the Site
- Referring website or search term
2. Health and Dietary Information
If you tell us about allergies, dietary restrictions, or medical dietary needs, we use that information only to plan and safely prepare your menu. We share it with kitchen staff working your event. We do not use it for marketing, we do not sell it, and we do not retain it beyond what we need for your event and our recipe records.
3. Cookies and Analytics
The Site uses cookies — small files stored on your device — to make the Site function and to understand how it is used.
Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate Site traffic: which pages are visited, how long visitors stay, and how they found us. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects your IP address and browsing behavior on our Site. Google’s use of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
WordPress and Jetpack. The Site runs on WordPress and uses Jetpack (operated by Automattic Inc.) for certain features, including the photo gallery viewer and security functions. These may set cookies and process limited visitor data. See the Automattic Privacy Policy.
Embedded social content. Pages that embed Instagram or TikTok content may allow those platforms to set their own cookies and collect data about you, governed by their own privacy policies. We do not control that collection.
Managing cookies. Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking cookies may cause parts of the Site to stop working correctly.
Do Not Track. The Site does not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, because no common standard for honoring them has been adopted.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your inquiry and discuss a possible event
- Plan, prepare, and execute events you book with us
- Accommodate allergies and dietary needs
- Process deposits and payments
- Send you occasional updates about upcoming menus, dinners, and events — only if you have asked to receive them
- Understand how the Site is used so we can improve it
- Keep records required for tax, accounting, and legal compliance
- Protect the Site against fraud, spam, and abuse
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
We share information only in these situations:
| Who | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Our kitchen and event staff | Your name, event details, dietary needs | To prepare and run your event |
| Email and hosting providers | Information you submit through the Site or by email | To deliver and store our communications |
| Payment processors | Billing information you provide | To process deposits and payments (we do not store full card numbers) |
| Google Analytics | Site usage data described above | Site analytics |
| Professional advisors | Only what is necessary | Accounting, tax, or legal advice |
| Government or law enforcement | Only what is legally required | When required by valid legal process |
| A successor business | Customer records | If Salu Mesa is sold, merged, or reorganized |
6. How Long We Keep Information
We keep inquiry information for as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable period afterward in case you return. We keep records of booked events, including invoices and payment records, for at least seven years, as required for tax and accounting purposes. We delete or anonymize information when it is no longer needed.
7. Your Choices and Rights
Everyone. You may ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that is wrong
- Delete your information, subject to records we are legally required to keep
- Stop sending you marketing emails
To make any of these requests, email hello@salumesa.com. We will respond within 45 days. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Marketing emails. Every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also reply “unsubscribe” or email us. Note that we will still send you messages about an event you have actually booked.
California residents. California law gives residents the right to know what personal information a business collects, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law. You may exercise your other rights by emailing us at the address above. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Other U.S. state residents. If you live in a state with a comprehensive consumer privacy law, you may have similar rights to access, correct, delete, or port your information, and to opt out of targeted advertising. Email us and we will honor your request.
8. Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) on the Site and access controls on our accounts. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, email us and we will delete it.
10. Visitors Outside the United States
Salu Mesa operates in the United States, and any information you provide is processed and stored here. If you are located outside the United States, including in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, understand that U.S. privacy law may differ from the law where you live. By using the Site or contacting us, you consent to that transfer.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be noted on this page. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
